I first starting renting this high tunnel about three and a half weeks ago. This is the before picture. The high tunnel area is 15 feet wide x 96 feet long, giving me a growing area of about 1,500 square feet. I am going to maximize this space by using vertical gardening techniques, efficient spacing, and other hanging techniques that allow upward growth!
Since then, I have build raised beds from wooden palettes I repurposed. I built rows of raised beds, set up drip tape and irrigation, and planted all my crop varieties. Currently, I am working on building a compost bin so I can continue to add organic matter to the farm to replenish nutrients lost and maintain a healthy soil full of beneficial bacteria and fungi that promote plant vitality.
